<p>In the video Roth goes step by step though the process of eating three foods, a raisin, a chip and a Hershey&#8217;s Kiss and details out to pay attention to every element involved in the process of eating this food item.</p>
<p>This may seem like overkill you.  You may say &#8220;like who has time to spend 5 minutes eating a raisin?&#8221;  but once you have learned to truly focus on the food you are eating and take the time to taste and appreciate the not only the flavor but the color and texture of the food, you will find that you are eating far less and enjoying it more.<!-- pingbacker_start --><br />

<h2>Oprah again talks about why she will never diet again!</h2>
<p>Early in the history of this blog we covered Paul McKenna&#8217;s 4 rules for losing weight and keeping it off.  They were:</p>
<ol>
<li>Eat when you are hungry</li>
<li>Eat consciously</li>
<li>Eat what you want</li>
<li>Stop when you are full</li>
</ol>
<p>In a recent recording posted on Oprah&#8217;s page, Geneen Roth walked us through <a href="http://www.oprah.com/oprahshow/Author-Geneen-Roth-Shares-Her-Eating-Guidelines-Video">7 Guidelines</a> that will lead us to losing weight and keeping it off.   Simply stated they are:</p>
<ol>
<li>Eat when you are hungry (body hunger)</li>
<li>Eat sitting down in a calm environment</li>
<li>Eat without distraction</li>
<li>Eat what your body wants</li>
<li>Stop when you are full</li>
<li>Eat with the intention of being in full view of other people</li>
<li>Eat with enjoyment</li>
</ol>
<p>So do we need the additional three?  Who knows.  To me, Roth&#8217;s 2, 3 and 7 are included in McKenna&#8217;s 2 (<a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0012KOSUA?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=ebook_amzn-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=B0012KOSUA"><em><strong>I Can Make You Thin</strong></em></a>).  Number 6, is a new twist.  McKenna focues on changin our  self-image, learning self-acceptance and love but those covered in much more detail in his self-hynopsis recordings.  It can&#8217;t hurto to bring them up here unless we fixate on what other&#8217;s are thinking about us and lose tract of the self-acceptance part and it becomes a hindrance instead of a help.</p>
<p>Which ever writer you prefer, the point is that you can lose weight without fad diets and killer workout programs by learning to listen to your body and love yourself.</p>
<p>Pick up Roth or McKenna&#8217;s book now and get started on a great new adventure of being healthy and thin!</p>

<p>With so much said about diet and healthy eating, losing weight is still a major dilemma for millions of men and women who can’t seem to shed off enough pounds. But, what is enough pounds and why is losing “enough” weight so difficult?</p>
<p>The fact is, you are who you are, and your weight is not based solely on what you eat, but also on your metabolism, whom your parents are, what your genes are like, and how you live your life. So, if you follow a diet endorsed by someone like Oprah, will you be absolutely certain to lose those extra pounds? We aren’t so sure.</p>
<p>It seems that every issue of O magazine and maybe every month as well on her television program, Oprah is endorsing another new miracle diet and this, my friends, could be very confusing indeed. In fact, for someone who really wants to start a healthy lifestyle, they could go crazy trying to follow every plan that Oprah recommends because every single week, the rules keep changing.</p>
<p>So the question becomes, “Is there a perfect diet?”</p>
<p>According to experts from the Yale University, it is more a matter of right thinking than finding the right diet. This means once you decide to shift gears and try a new diet, you have to stick with it. In addition, you must find a diet that does not make it hard for you to live your life. So, if you absolutely love chocolate, you shouldn’t pick a diet where chocolate is totally off limits. If you do, the chances are you’ll cheat and won’t be able to stick with it. Plus, you’ll be down on yourself for not having any willpower.  Instead, choose a diet plan that you can live with.</p>
<p>In one of Oprah’s book reviews, she talked about Women, Food, and God, which is a book written about how to stop defeating the very purpose of a healthy lifestyle. It pushes for kindness to yourself and the way you view your body. It actually makes a lot of sense, but can it help you lose weight? Well, the jury is still out on this book.</p>
<p>Maybe one reason Oprah has a lot to say about weight lose and dieting is because she knows how people with weight problems feel. However, it is also part of the profile of a person who wants to diet to constantly change her mind about which diet to follow. The answer is really not with Oprah and her weekly diet endorsement, the answer ultimately remains with each individual. She is, after all is said and done, just as confused as the next gal on which diet to follow.</p>
<p>The reality is that almost all diets can work if you work them. Just choose the best one for you and don’t give up. You will lose weight and feel great!<br />

<p>Marna Goldstein Thrall has discovered this truth and shares the first steps to learning to accept and love ourselves and letting go of the fat self-image we have held on to for so many years.</p>
<p>Have you ever just browsed or searched YouTube for videos about losing weight?  Better yet narrow down that search to &#8220;<a href="http://thinkingaboutlosingweight.com/breaking-the-negative-thought-trend/">think and lose weight</a>&#8221; and you will bypass all those sales pitches for diet pills and exercise equipment.  Sure you will find people trying to sell you their programs on how to lose weight without diets, by self-hypnosis or private coaching but if you can look beyond the sale pitch, these videos themselves are a great resource.  You don&#8217;t have to go sign up for anything or buy a set of CDs.  Just tune into one or two of these videos and you will pick up a new technique or boost in your self-image right from the free Youtube video.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s kind of like going to the public library or spending the morning in Barnes and Noble reading the books there.  They are free to view and your don&#8217;t have to buy a thing.</p>
<p>You are also free to pick and choose what you like and don&#8217;t like.  Take what you want and apply it to your life.  Ignore the rest.  You don&#8217;t have to agree with everyone and you certainly don&#8217;t have to follow every bit of advise your given.  Find that one gem and feels right to you and go with it.</p>
<p>Tomorrow, next week or next month when you feel like your enthusiasm for life is waning again, go back for another treasure to move on with.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>My original inspiration for the site was <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1402765711?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=5208000-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=1402765711">Paul McKenna&#8217;s <em>I Can Make You Thin</em></a> TV broadcast.  I was very disappointed that McKenna&#8217;s program did not allow for affiliate sponsorship in the United States but in spite of that I have continued to recommend his books and CDs for changing your way of thinking about yourself and food.  My feelings about this program haven&#8217;t changed.  I still listen to my MP3 sessions. However I have learned I need variety in my life to keep moving forward.  So you can imagine my delight when I  discovered Dr. Carol Solomon&#8217;s program entitled <a href="http://www.profcs.com/app/?af=1183060">Lose Weight and Stay Slim Forever</a>.  Dr. Solomon teaches many of the same techniques and practices found in McKenna&#8217;s program and you can get a great deal of guidance and insight into putting these into practice in your life by just reading her articles.</p>
<h2>Tapping Your Way to Freedom</h2>
<p>One technique that I have been guilty of ignoring is the tapping routine.  Both Solomon and McKenna teach a method of tapping your figures to specific pressure points as a means of reprogramming your mind&#8217;s response to negative stimulus, i.e. food cravings.  Solomon offers a body diagram outlining the pressure points on her site.  In fact if you are short of cash, you can get a good deal of the principles she recommends directly from the blog.  She writes about many of my personal challenges like ice cream cravings and night eating.  However, if you want get her program in a convenient package feel free to purchase her CD from my Amazon links below.</p>

Their very purpose is to create self-doubt within us and make us believe we <strong>need</strong> to buy their product to beautiful.  Whenever I think of this I get angry! I am tired of being told I am too fat, my teeth are not white enough, my hair is not shiny enough, my heels are not high enough&#8230;.and on and on.</p>
<p>Every magazine we pick up or commercial on our TV tells us outward appearances matter.  With all this emphasis on what we eat and do and wear,  many of us forget that it is what is inside that is important..</p>

<p>Eating <strong>right</strong> is important for good health, but  you do not need to fit into the popularly accepted idea of what is beautiful. The image portrayed by the advertising world is neither healthy or normal.  You need only to look at the long list of anorexics and bulimics that grace the silver screen to see that.  A cursory look at the divorce, drug use and suicides of the &#8220;beautiful people&#8221; disputes the lie that external beauty will make us happy.</p>

<p>Unless you truly love and accept yourself as you are, you will never be happy with the results of a diet.</p>
<p>This in no way means that you should stop seeking  a healthier lifestyle. You should however take care of the body you have and not strive for that of some model or recording star.</p>
<p>Some of us spent years dieting in an effort to get back to the weight or size we were when we were teenagers.  This is most often an unrealistic goal as our bodies change with age and that is normal. Until you accept yourself as who you are, you will not be able to be happy at any weight. Self acceptance may require hard work but the outcome is well worth it.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>We are finally settled here in San Felipe and I can no longer offer my travels and lack of roots as an excuse for doing or not doing what I need to be doing.</p>
<p>This morning my sister-in-law and I started a new exercise program&#8230; it&#8217;s the 5 Day Workout program, which I picked up at Costco a few weeks ago.  Amazon doesn&#8217;t carry it so I can&#8217;t give you a link for it here.</p>
<p>Having only gone through the first day, I can&#8217;t offer much of a review except to state that the first day was tougher than I was ready for.</p>
<p>I also started back through my <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00182I5II?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=5208000-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=B00182I5II">I Can Make You Thin DVD</a>s.  This I can give you a link to to the book and intro CD.  McKenna now has an online program you can join for $10/month. For some odd reason, McKenna doesn&#8217;t offer the opportunity for me to be an affiliate in the US even though he does for folks in the UK.  But I like the program so I would recommend it even though I don&#8217;t make money if you sign up.  I don&#8217;t personally belong to the web program anymore, I signed for a while when the membership included the DVD program. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a title="Veg bunches" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/7554150@N05/2808163001/" target="_blank"><img class="alignleft" style="border: 0pt none; float: left;" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3107/2808163001_ff47c7a2a7_m.jpg" border="0" alt="Veg bunches" /></a> As I write, I am sitting here munching a bowl of popcorn.  Granted it&#8217;s &#8220;healthy&#8221; popcorn, not heavily buttered or sweetened but that&#8217;s not the problem.  The problem is I am eating unconsciously and by habit, not because I am hungry and need fuel to function.  The problem is I am doing something else (reading email and browsing the internet) and not focusing in the taste of the food or the signals my body is trying to send me, saying I&#8217;m full and don&#8217;t need to eat more.</p>
<p>Fortunately one of those emails was my <a href="http://thinkingaboutlosingweight.com/Daily" target="_blank">Dailybread365</a> reminder.  Now I have been known to on occasion skip these daily reminders, maybe even delete them withont reading them but every now and then I open it up and read <span style="font-size: 10pt;">Lucy-Ann Prideaux&#8217;s  <a href="http://thinkingaboutlosingweight.com/Daily">healthy nutritional guidelines</a> and I am redirected back on track.  </p>

They remind me the the autopilot systems on an airplane.  The pilot puts in the location that he wants to go to and the plane&#8217;s GPS system detects when the plane is off track and corrects it&#8217;s heading.  Lucy-Ann&#8217;s <a href="http://thinkingaboutlosingweight.com/Daily">email a day</a> does that for me, helps me see when I am off course and gets me headed back into the right direction.<br />
