Sometimes called visualization, the idea behind this exercise is that what we see in our head, we bring into being. It may sound a bit new age to some, but to me it fit very well in to my age-old belief system, which called it faith.

I remember learning many years ago that faith is believing without seeing but I always thought of  it as  seeing something before it was visible to the human eye.

In the seventies we called it Positive Mental Attitude (PMA). Again, the premise was that you had to be able to believe (see in your mind) in something before it would become a reality (be seen in the physical world). So it makes perfectly good sense to me that daydreaming (or creating pictures in my head) of the person I want to become would be an affective way of achieving that reality. See that lady in the picture above? That’s the image I’m locking into.

I see her as a trim, energetic,fun-loving grandmother. She eats well, does some form of exercisedaily and enjoys spending time with her friends and family. Recently, she went on a bike trip around New Zealand with her husband.

The gals at DailyBread365 suggest we take the exercise a bit further. Not only should we conjure up pictures of our fitter, healthier selves but we should also associate good feeling with these mental pictures. Think back to a time when we were happy and excited or think about how happy and excited we would be if we were healthy and fit as the image in our mind.

I like it..I’m going to try it right now. Excuse me why I daydream for a bit…
