One of the things I really agree with Geneen Roth on is that the secret to achieving a health weight is learning to eat consciously.  Her recent video which was featured on Oprah demonstrated eating consciously very well.

You can see it here:  The Raisin Test.

In the video Roth goes step by step though the process of eating three foods, a raisin, a chip and a Hershey’s Kiss and details out to pay attention to every element involved in the process of eating this food item.

Woman, Food and God by Geneen Roth to be readdressed on  Oprah, Monday July 11, 2010.

Oprah again talks about why she will never diet again!

Early in the history of this blog we covered Paul McKenna’s 4 rules for losing weight and keeping it off.  They were:

  1. Eat when you are hungry
  2. Eat consciously
  3. Eat what you want
  4. Stop when you are full

In a recent recording posted on Oprah’s page, Geneen Roth walked us through 7 Guidelines that will lead us to losing weight and keeping it off.   Simply stated they are:

Is there a perfect diet? Does Oprah know?

With so much said about diet and healthy eating, losing weight is still a major dilemma for millions of men and women who can’t seem to shed off enough pounds. But, what is enough pounds and why is losing “enough” weight so difficult?

The fact is, you are who you are, and your weight is not based solely on what you eat, but also on your metabolism, whom your parents are, what your genes are like, and how you live your life. So, if you follow a diet endorsed by someone like Oprah, will you be absolutely certain to lose those extra pounds? We aren’t so sure.

Not Dieting – Still Losing

We have been on the road a lot this month, traveling between our home in Baja and family’s homes in Sacramento and Paradise.  I have even spent two weeks alone while Chuck attended a family get-together in Texas.  Being alone presented it’s own challenges and rewards.  I find that when not faced with the routine of the regular meals I was quite content to graze through my days on fresh fruit and yogurt concoctions.

One More Time – NO MORE DIETS!

No matter how many articles I read or TV shows I see I continuously need to remind myself, NO MORE DIETS. Yesterday I came across a book about losing weight “Italian Style“.  Loving pasta like I do, THIS I had to see for myself!  What I discovered was that it was basically the same thing I am already do under a new name.  Hendrickson points out that the Italians have an ongoing love affair with food.  The savor it, enjoying every bite.  This exactly what I learned from my first “think and lose” program with Paul McKenna.
