<p>We have been on the road a lot this month, traveling between our home in Baja and family&#8217;s homes in Sacramento and Paradise.  I have even spent two weeks alone while Chuck attended a family get-together in Texas.  Being alone presented it&#8217;s own challenges and rewards.  I find that when not faced with the routine of the regular meals I was quite content to graze through my days on fresh fruit and yogurt concoctions.</p>
<p>It is impossible to not notice that my recently purchased capris are becoming a bit loose and I actually gave into the temptation to get on the scale.  I was delight to see that I had dropped a few more pounds.</p>
<p>On the negative side though is that without Chuck here to workout with I have missed my daily exercises more often.  Okay, he&#8217;s back now.  No more excuses.<!-- pingbacker_start --><br />

No matter how many articles I read or TV shows I see I continuously need to remind myself, <a href="http://thinkingaboutlosingweight.com/geneen-roth-on-oprah/">NO MORE DIETS.</a> Yesterday I came across a book about losing weight &#8220;<a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1600375472">Italian Style</a>&#8220;.  Loving pasta like I do, THIS I had to see for myself!  What I discovered was that it was basically the same thing I am already do under a new name.  Hendrickson points out that the Italians have an ongoing love affair with food.  The savor it, enjoying every bite.  This exactly what I learned from my first &#8220;<a href="http://thinkingaboutlosingweight.com/think-and-lose-weight-how-to-use-mind-over-matter-to-look-marvelous/">think and lose</a>&#8221; program with Paul McKenna.</p>
<p>Enjoying food isn&#8217;t what make us fat.  Not taking the time to taste, savor and enjoy each bite does.  When we shovel food into our mouths unconsciously we aren&#8217;t enjoying it, we are just trying to fill the void and most often the void we are trying to fill isn&#8217;t a physical one in our stomach.  That void is emotional or spiritual.  No amount of ice cream is going to make us feel loved.  We won&#8217;t find courage in a bag of chips.  We can&#8217;t even really energize our bodies with all that garbage.</p>
<p>So the key is to face the void head on and learn to eliminate with other tools like prayer or <a href="http://thinkingaboutlosingweight.com/breaking-the-negative-thought-trend/">EFT</a>.  Then we can sit down to loving serving of lasagna and savor every bite guiltfree.<div class="cscj-product">

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>My original inspiration for the site was <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1402765711?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=5208000-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=1402765711">Paul McKenna&#8217;s <em>I Can Make You Thin</em></a> TV broadcast.  I was very disappointed that McKenna&#8217;s program did not allow for affiliate sponsorship in the United States but in spite of that I have continued to recommend his books and CDs for changing your way of thinking about yourself and food.  My feelings about this program haven&#8217;t changed.  I still listen to my MP3 sessions. However I have learned I need variety in my life to keep moving forward.  So you can imagine my delight when I  discovered Dr. Carol Solomon&#8217;s program entitled <a href="http://www.profcs.com/app/?af=1183060">Lose Weight and Stay Slim Forever</a>.  Dr. Solomon teaches many of the same techniques and practices found in McKenna&#8217;s program and you can get a great deal of guidance and insight into putting these into practice in your life by just reading her articles.</p>
<h2>Tapping Your Way to Freedom</h2>
<p>One technique that I have been guilty of ignoring is the tapping routine.  Both Solomon and McKenna teach a method of tapping your figures to specific pressure points as a means of reprogramming your mind&#8217;s response to negative stimulus, i.e. food cravings.  Solomon offers a body diagram outlining the pressure points on her site.  In fact if you are short of cash, you can get a good deal of the principles she recommends directly from the blog.  She writes about many of my personal challenges like ice cream cravings and night eating.  However, if you want get her program in a convenient package feel free to purchase her CD from my Amazon links below.</p>

For weeks or months I think I am on track and doing well then one day I look up and discover I have waundered off the path and am strolling down some side road in the dark and I have no idea how I got there.</p>
<p>Two months ago, my husband Chuck an I committed ourselves to an exercise program.  It was much, just <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0446389617?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=5208000-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=0446389617">12 minutes a day</a> doing a set work out as outlined in Joyce Vedral&#8217;s book.</p>
<p>For once, I can honestly report that we have stuck to it.  Oh, not EVERY day, but so far we are managing to do 6 days out of 7 pretty faithfully.</p>
<p>As a result, Chuck has lost about 9 pounds and is visibly trimming up.  I on the other hand have put 10 back on yet I too am toning up and &#8220;feel&#8221; fitter.</p>
<p>What I haven&#8217;t done though is follow through on my &#8220;think and lose&#8221; principles.  I find myself doing all the wrong things again.</p>
<ul>
<li>I&#8217;m eating out of habit or boredom, NOT when I&#8217;m hungry</li>
<li>I&#8217;m eating meals because they are convenient, not because that is what I want to eat</li>
<li>I&#8217;m eating unconsciously, while watching TV or reading a book, or chatting away and NOT chewing my food, NOT tasting my food, NOT paying attention</li>
<li>I&#8217;m eating what is before me and NOT stopping at the first signs that I&#8217;m am NOT hungry anymore.</li>
</ul>
<p>Essentially&#8230; I&#8217;m blowing the four main rules of Paul McKenna&#8217;s <em><a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00182I5II?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=5208000-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=B00182I5II">I Can Make You Thin</a></em> program.</p>
<ol>
<li>When you are hungry, eat.</li>
<li>Eat what you want</li>
<li>Eat consciously</li>
<li>Stop when you are not hungry anymore</li>
</ol>
<p>Note:  Rule 4 says when you are not hungry&#8230; NOT when you are FULL.</p>
<p>No wonder I am gaining weight again.</p>

<p>Fortunately one of those emails was my <a href="http://thinkingaboutlosingweight.com/Daily" target="_blank">Dailybread365</a> reminder.  Now I have been known to on occasion skip these daily reminders, maybe even delete them withont reading them but every now and then I open it up and read <span style="font-size: 10pt;">Lucy-Ann Prideaux&#8217;s  <a href="http://thinkingaboutlosingweight.com/Daily">healthy nutritional guidelines</a> and I am redirected back on track.  </p>

They remind me the the autopilot systems on an airplane.  The pilot puts in the location that he wants to go to and the plane&#8217;s GPS system detects when the plane is off track and corrects it&#8217;s heading.  Lucy-Ann&#8217;s <a href="http://thinkingaboutlosingweight.com/Daily">email a day</a> does that for me, helps me see when I am off course and gets me headed back into the right direction.<br />
